Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Mango2023 Organizing Committee, we are delighted to invite you to the XIII International Mango Symposium, which will take place between September 29 and October 3, 2023 under the auspices of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). The congress is organized by the Institute of Subtropical and Mediterranean Horticulture La Mayora (IHSM La Mayora), a joint institute between the University of Malaga and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and will be held at the NH Hotel in Malaga, Spain, in the middle of the only area with significant mango production in continental Europe. The venue is located in the center of the city of Malaga, a city with more than 3,000 years of history, and is easily accessible to all participants arriving at the Malaga airport or high-speed train station. The symposium follows successful ones that have recently taken place in the Dominican Republic in 2013, Australia in 2015 and China in 2017. Due to the pandemic caused by covid19, it was decided to postpone the symposium, initially planned for 2020, with the aim of holding an in-person event to bring back together the international community interested in mango research, innovation, production and marketing.
The objective of the symposium is to stimulate discussion and exchange of basic and applied mango-related knowledge including internationally recognized experts from both academia and industry, exhibition of different products and services, participation in social events and field tours to learn about the peculiar system of mango production in the only area with significant mango production on the European continent. Simultaneous translation English/Spanish and Spanish/English will be offered to all participants. As an added value, the congress will take place just before the celebration of the annual Fruit Attraction fair in Madrid, which brings together nearly 2,000 companies from all over the world in the fruit and vegetable sector.
